‘The Sinking’ LP is the latest release from Conscious Route (CCF/SOS) who teams up with producer Sean El (United Front). The pair teamed up after meeting at a Soul Mischief gig back in 2012 and since then have strengthened their link by collaborating on tracks over the last year, most of which are included as the back-bone of this release. Eighteen tracks of deep, the long player is a brilliant collection of Boom Bap fused beats complimented with a feast of conscious flows and controversial punch-lines. It’s no wonder they’ve got the Internet going nuts with a string of solid reviews on leading Hip-Hop blogs.

The album has a host of features, including Wolverhampton’s Big Dutty Deeze, Cambridge’s Dillah from B-illa, Edinburgh’s Werd & Jordan Butler (SOS), Blasfima Sinna, London-based singer Anna Fontana and many more. With Sean El also dropping in on the raps, this diverse LP was mostly spot-written, apart from four tracks, with the recording of the beats and raps all completed in just a five hour period! With a very diverse beat selection there seems to be something included here for every kind of Hip-Hop head, even turning the ears of Hip-Hop non-believers and haters to maybe even liking a track or two! Basically, this is a must listen!

Here is another super sick release from True Hold Records, a label that in the last year has started to flourish nicely with some solid releases. This release is the labels best excursion yet, with rapper and song-writer Conscious Route teaming up with beat maker Sean El. ‘Sinking’ is an album that doesn’t rely on a big budget or big cheesy single, rather than just going for music that stands the test of time with clarity and production that impresses. Conscious gives up some killer tracks such as ‘Satellite’, ‘Wastelands’ featuring Dillah from B-iLLA and Big Dutty Deeze, as well as ‘Rings Of Saturn’ which has essence of Jay Dilla in production while Conscious Route goes deep. This album pushes the boundaries of creativity and in turn gives us a future underground classic.
